Kenny Chesney Rides A 3D Houseboat Into TheatersWe've seen U2, Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers take their music to the big screen in 3D, now it's Kenny Chesney's turn. Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D comes from the footage shot by over 20 cameras filming the country music artist's performances in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco and Foxborough, Massachusetts.

According to USA Today, the film is expected to hit at least 750 screens in April thanks to Hot Ticket, the Sony Pictures division responsible for distributing concerts, theater and sporting events. Much of the film is dedicating to giving the audience a front-row seat concert experience but there are also portions that go beyond the stage show. At one point, the cameras follow Chesney while performing on a houseboat on the Ohio River. "I've been trying for years to have the audience closer to me and to have me be closer to them," Chesney says. "With this production, they can't get any closer."

This film is going to be one of few chances fans will get to see Chesney perform in 2010. Other than a handful of festival appearances including one at the Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge in May and BamaJam in Alabama, in June, Chesney will spend the year focusing on the movie, his online radio station No Shoes Radio and his personal life. He explains, "I've been giving to one thing for so long, and that's just not OK with me anymore." Considering he's completed a 10 show tour, is scheduled to performance at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday and has the potential to break Garth Brooks' record by nabbing a fifth entertainer-of-the-year awards, I think he deserves the chance to do whatever makes him happy in 2010.
